25-year-old charged with attempted homicide, arson following incident in Mount Union

MOUNT UNION, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities say a 25-year-old man faces charges of attempted homicide following an incident in Mount Union Borough Thursday morning, according to a criminal complaint. Troopers say Talen Trice faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and arson after he reportedly stabbed and burned another man. The complaint states that around 8:45 a.m. Thursday, troopers were dispatched to North Division Street, near Mount Union High School, for a report of a single-vehicle crash and fire.

Jeff Tech adds new diesel and heavy equipment program

REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. - A new program for students interested in diesel engine mechanics started this year at the Jefferson County-Dubois Area Vocational-Technical School (Jeff Tech). The Diesel and Heavy Equipment class is an instructional program that prepares students to apply technical knowledge and skills to the specialized maintenance and repair of trucks, buses, and other commercial and industrial vehicles. On a wall at Altoona Pipe and Steel, a recently unveiled mural depicting the life of William Nesbit is on display. He was described as a leading civil rights activist. Nesbit's activism often included direct action. He moved to Altoona in 1855.

Video shows road rage incident before trooper fatally shoots man in Washington state

EVERETT, Wash. (KOMO) — A Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper shot and killeda man armed with a hammer who was involved in a “road rage incident," according to authorities. The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) said troopers responded to the road rage incident on the shoulder of Interstate 5 near Marine View Drive in Everett just after 4 p.m. Thursday. SMART spokesperson Courtney O'Keefe said the man had rammed a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) contractor vehicle and a lift that was on the shoulder of the highway.

Police search for woman they say stole from State College Walmart

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a possible Walmart theft suspect in State College. Police say on March 15, the woman stole multiple items, including a hover board, from the Benner Pike Walmart store. In surveillance video, the suspect appears to be in her 20s or 30s and is wearing a green shirt, white vest, orange jacket and jeans.
