State College parking garage will remain open despite damage to 'structural beam'

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — One day after a crack was spotted in a structural beam, the McAllister Parking Deck in downtown State College remains open. Officials say the parking garage is 33 years old, but after securing the cracked beam, borough engineers say they can do the repair work without closing the entire deck. The McAllister deck has 230 parking spaces, and close to 40 of them are temporarily closed while the situation is assessed, and permanent repairs are made.

LAUREL, Md. (7News) — A rare dinosaur bone bed was recently discovered at a Laurel, Maryland park, according to Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation. The host of bones was found at M-NCPPC Dinosaur Park and officials said it's the first of its kind found in Maryland since 1887, marking a major milestone in paleontological research. Officials tell 7News that the term “bone bed” is used by paleontologists when bones of one or more species are concentrated within a geologic layer.
