New video shows hours long riot at Cambria County Prison, played during prelim hearing

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — An update to a story we’ve been following since last year, when a riot broke out at the Cambria County Prison. Friday was the preliminary hearing for 20 inmates who are all facing multiple charges related to the prison riot at the Cambria County Prison which took place in October. In October 2020, a group of inmates at the Cambria County Prison began to riot in their unit leading to several law enforcement officials, from local and state agencies to respond to the situation.

PA man gets 15 to 30 years in shooting that wounded police chief

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison in a 2021 shooting that wounded a suburban Philadelphia borough police chief. Colin Petroziello, 26, of Yardley pleaded no contest last fall in Bucks County Court to attempted homicide of a law enforcement officer, attempted murder, aggravated assault and other charges. In a no contest plea, a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges that prosecutors have enough evidence for conviction.

Royal Air Force makes stop in Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A Royal Air Force team made a stop Wednesday in Cambria County. They stopped to tour Martin-Baker America in Richland, a manufacturer of ejection and crash-worthy seats. The Royal Air Force is fitted with the company's seats and was planning a fly-over Wednesday to release red, white and blue smoke, but the fly-over was cancelled due to the weather. The Red Arrows are currently on an 11-week tour of North America to encourage kids to get into STEM programs.

Human skull found near Cambria County river; investigation underway

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say an investigation is underway after a human skull was reportedly found Thursday night near the Little Conemaugh River in Conemaugh Township. Officials with the coroner's office say the skull was reportedly found by a fisherman around 8 p.m. Investigators say they are focusing on identifying the remains at this time. Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees says his office is working with a forensic pathologist, a dentist and an anthropologist to identify the skull.

Hunter Biden’s criminal trial could add fuel to an already explosive election season. The first criminal trial for the President’s son is set to begin next week in Delaware. He’s facing federal charges related to a gun purchase and lying about drug use to buy the weapon in 2018.

Tornado rips roof off Pennsylvania church with congregation inside

Union Township, PA (CNN) — A tornado tore the roof off of a Pennsylvania church over the weekend while people were gathered inside for a service. Video shows the confirmed tornado that violently tore through neighborhoods, ripping off roofs and uprooting massive trees in Union Township. Crossroads Ministries Church was having a service when the tornado came barreling their way. Pastor Ken Barner says about 100 people, including babies, were inside at the time.

Aiello's Cafe in Ridgway Closing After 73 Years

RIDGWAY/ELK COUNTY, Pa — After more than seven decades of ownership by the same Italian family, Aiello’s Cafe in Elk County will be closing its doors one final time on Saturday closed its doors for the last time today. “But now, as sad as it is, I know deep in my heart it’s the right thing to do,” said Rosa Aiello, whose in-laws opened the restaurant. The cafe came to Ridgway in April of 1943, but the time has come for the Italian staple on Broad Street to end.
