Steelers linebacker Shazier ruled out for season with spine injury

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was placed on the reserve/injured list Tuesday morning with a spinal injury he suffered while playing against the Cincinnati Bengals on Dec. 4. He will miss the rest of the season. Shazier underwent spinal stabilization surgery on Dec. 6 in Pittsburgh. The surgery was performed by UPMC neurosurgeons and Steelers team physicians Drs. David Okonkwo and Joseph Maroon. Theteam has provided no update on Shazier's condition or the severity of his spinal injury since the surgery.

Ex-CCCTC employee files whistleblower suit, saying he was fired for retaliation

CLEARFIELD - A former employee of the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center has filed a whistleblower lawsuit, claiming he was fired for retaliation. According to the complaint, Franklin Walk had been working at CCCTC since October of 2004 as a computer systems administrator. The complaint said sometime in 2016, executive director Elizabeth Frankhouser asked Walk to repair her computer. Walk removed the hard drive and installed a new one, keeping the old parts in his office.

Huntingdon man faces additional charges over alleged 'sexual relationship' with minor

Authorities say a 32-year-old Huntingdon man is facing additional charges related to an alleged “sexual relationship” with a 13-year-old girl. Mark Musser, of Ewing Road, was charged Tuesday after police allegedly found numerous videos and photos of the girl on his phone. According to a probable-cause affidavit, three of the videos showed the two having sex. According to the affidavit, the girl told police that shortly after Musser was released from prison on bail in a related case, the two connected on Snapchat and later began meeting in person.

Man survives bear attack outside his Pennsylvania home

John Swartz encountered the bear moments outside his Montour County home. Swartz walked into his garage to turn off a water hose, unknowingly startling a hungry bear rummaging through his trash. My head hurt and it knocked me against the wall, little did we know until we received the video as to what happened outside, I didn’t realize I fell over the bear and continued down the sidewalk holding my head and continued into the house to retrieve a washcloth.

Altoona Curve join 'Community First' initiative to raise funds for local food banks

Curve officials say for every $10 donated, they will give a home game ticket to a local member of essential personnel.

Bedford Co. man pleads guilty to shooting cousin, burning his body

Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — A Bedford County man who was accused of shooting his cousin last year and then conspiring to burn his body has entered a guilty plea in the case. According to officials with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, Derek Louk entered a plea to one count of third-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of Tyler Matthai last April. Authorities say Louk admitted to fatally shooting Matthai on April 26, 2022, and then conspiring with two others to burn the body and cover up the crime.
