FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WKRC) - An Indiana judge recently ruled that tacos are "Mexican-style sandwiches." According to WANE, Judge Craig Bobay ruled that "tacos and burritos are Mexican-style sandwiches," ending a years-long battle between a restauranteur and the Allen County Plan Commission in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Per the station, Judge Bobay's ruling has opened the door for Famous Taco to open a second location at a strip mall in the city's southwest side.
CLEARFIELD -- Marilyn Hamm retired from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office after more than 43 years in the department and 44-plus years working with the county.
Hamm took a job with the county in February of 1973, several years after graduating high school. She took the job at the sheriff's office in January of 1974. Over her more than 40 years, she said that the office has expanded drastically and has gone from one office to two and the workload has steadily increased over the years.
A Pennsylvania nurse who administered lethal or potentially lethal doses of insulin to numerous patients pleaded guilty to three counts of murder and other charges Thursday and was sentenced to life in prison.
Heather Pressdee, 41, was given three consecutive life sentences and another consecutive term of 380-760 years behind bars during a hearing in Butler, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Pittsburgh. STERLING, Va. (7News) — A firefighter is dead and several others are injured after several crews were called to the scene of a house explosion in Sterling, Virginia Friday night.
According to James Williams, Assistant Chief of Operations for Loudoun County Fire, initial crews responded to a home located at 347 Silver Ridge Drive around 7:40 p.m. Once firefighters were inside the residence, the home exploded. Officials have identified the fallen firefighter as 45-year-old Trevor Brown.
CANONSBURG, Pa. (WJAC/AP) — In an earnings call Tuesday, Equitrans Midstream leaders said the costs of handling a gas leak at their Rager Mountain facility in Cambria County last year that spewed large amounts of methane into the air cost them $8.1 million last year in expenses and money reserved for potential regulatory penalties.
And they expect that amount to be higher in 2023.
“Based on initial estimates we have included $8-10 million of operating expenses and approximately $5 million of (capital expenses) related to the ongoing work following the Rager Mountain incident in our 2023 guidance,” said Kirk Oliver, Senior VP/CFO for Equitrans Midstream.
(TND) — The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and Consumer Reports have new lists of safe, affordable vehicles for teenage drivers.
The updates Wednesday include 58 used models that cost between $5,800 and $19,900, along with nearly two dozen new models.
IIHS Research Scientist Rebecca Weast said cost was a big factor in their list.
“We don't want to put this list out and have people’s takeaway be that they are priced out of being safe,” she said.

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Remembering our country’s fallen heroes. That was the theme of Sunday’s Memorial Day service held by Burnside Bible Church at the Burnside Cemetery in Clearfield County.
The service featured an honor guard ceremony from the local American Legion, as well as readings from state Representative Dallas Kephart.
The Sentry Fire Company in Burnside helped to set up the service, and many of their members were in attendance, along with local residents.
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — In commemoration of National Reading Month, the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum is teaming up with the Altoona Public Library to host "Railroad City Reads" at the museum.
The event is centered on reading railroading related books to young children.
It's free with regular admission to the museum and reading times are scheduled for noon, 1 and 2 p.m.
Staff at the museum say the key to appreciating local history is to educate others about it.
