Man pleads guilty in theft of bronze Jackie Robinson statue from Kansas park

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A 45-year-old man pleaded guilty in the theft of a bronze Jackie Robinson statue that was cut off at the ankles and found days later smoldering in a trash can in a city park in Kansas. Ricky Alderete entered the plea during his arraignment Thursday. A judge signed off on it Friday. Authorities arrested him in February, with court records alleging he entered a Wichita home with the intent to kidnap someone as part of an effort to interfere with law enforcement.

NH sex offender accused of exposing himself at Penn State library

University Park, PA (WJAC) — A homeless man is behind bars in Centre County after he allegedly exposed himself to a woman at a Penn State library. Police say on Wednesday night, 35-year-old Brandon Taylor allegedly watched pornographic material on a computer at the Pattee Library. Police say Taylor then reportedly exposed himself to a woman and asked multiple times for her to perform a sex act on him. Police say Taylor is also a registered sex offender in New Hampshire and that he failed to notify authorities that he is in Pennsylvania.

Duncansville council hires new police chief; still without mayor or budget

DUNCANSVILLE – The borough of Duncansville in Blair County narrowly hired a new police chief Monday night, but is still without a mayor or a budget. The first council meeting of the year was more of a screaming match at times. Three council members were sworn in, but the reorganization meeting was anything but organized. There were several shouting matches between residents and council members. The council went back and forth in the very beginning while voting for council president and vice president.

PA lawmakers look to propose bill that would implement a four day work week

Johnstown, Pa — Pennsylvania lawmakers drafted a bill that could implement a four day work week. 6 News spoke to State Representative Joshua Siegel of the 22nd legislative district who says this bill would be a tax credit based incentive, but on top of that it is pro family, pro community and pro Commonwealth. “A number of states are beginning to sort of experiment and explore with the idea of a four-day work week,” said Representative Siegel.

Rifle-wielding man fatally shot by officer

DOVER, Pa. (AP) -- Police say a 21-year-old man was shot and killed inside his Pennsylvania home by an officer who saw him approaching with an AR-15 rifle. Northern York County Regional Police responded to the Dover Township home early Thursday after a woman called 911 requesting police assistance for an unspecified problem. Police say an officer encountered Isaiah Green holding the rifle in the garage. They say Green was shot after approaching the officer and refusing to the drop the gun.
