SOMERSET, Pa. (WJAC) — As we are over nine months into the coronavirus pandemic, businesses are still dealing with the effects of shutdowns and loss of business. In an effort to help, the Somerset County Commissioners just allocated $1.2 million worth of CARES Act Funding to over 100 different businesses throughout the county. Businesses ranging from restaurants, retail stores, and auto shops.
Somerset County was initially allocated over $6 million worth of federal CARES Act money at the start of the pandemic.
The year was 1960 and the Amish men in this film are facing a judge in Morgantown, Pennsylvania.

School officials and law enforcement began enforcing the law in the Amish communities in the mid-50’s.

Hilton Grand Vacations, who owns and operates the Elara Grand Vacations, confirmed one guest was injured after the glass from the window fell.

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say two Centre County residents have been charged after they allegedly neglected to get care for a young child for nearly two weeks.
Police say that Jordan and Logan Wilkinson, both of Philipsburg, reportedly took the child to the pediatrician in late September for what the two said was a rash.
Police say medical personnel then discovered that the child had multiple broken ribs that were consistent with “non-accidental trauma.
MILESBURG -- Students from Wingate Elementary school spread some holiday cheer at the Eagle Valley Personal Care home Friday morning in Milesburg.
The second graders sang Christmas carols to the residents and also gave out handmade Christmas cards to their audience members.
Residents said it means a lot to have visitors, especially this time of year.
“Well, they think we’re special, and even though we’re old, they didn’t forget about us,” said resident Jane Bennett.

(TND) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection released new figures this week showing the fewest April migrant encounters at the southern border in three years.
CBP reported 179,725 encounters along the southern border last month, down from 211,992 last April and 235,785 in April 2022.
There were 128,900 encounters between ports of entry along the southwest border, down 30% from last April, according to CBP.

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — On Wednesday, officials in Clearfield County announced the appointment of the county's newest commissioner, following the resignation of former commissioner Antonio “Tony” Scotto.
President Judge Fredric Ammerman appointed Mary E. Tatum to fill the commission's vacancy.
Officials say Tatum, a Houtzdale resident, will serve as the third Clearfield County Commissioner for the remainder of Scotto's term.
Commissioner Tatum will officially begin serving out the term on Monday, Nov.
